May 15th 2007 - Helsinki |

At 7.45am they began their journey towards Helsinki in a thunderstorm and the temperature was around 10°C (50°F). Two hours later the sun came out, the temperature rose to 17°C (63°F) and it was a nice day to ride. As they got closer to Helsinki it began to rain again. The first thing they did when arriving in Helsinki was to find the Russian embassy which turned out to be closed today (a familiar thing) but will be open tomorrow. They'll go there and hopefully get an extension for their visas in to Russia to be on the safe side. As they didn't have much else planned for the day a short visit was made to the Icelandic embassy and afterwards they tried finding a Yamaha dealership. Einar's bike needed a new oil filter and oil had to be added which they did just before 6pm when they finally found the dealership. A decision was made to try and get a room outside the city as it's difficult to find accommodations for the bikes in the city. Eventually they found a room at a hotel called Krapi. Today they added 588km to the distance traveled. |
