May 23rd 2007 - The Mob Hotel. |
Wednesday, 23 May 2007 | |
Yet another sunny day - long drive, more than 500km. Today the cops pulled them over four times. First they paid their 100 rubles (per cop) but the next 3 times they refused to pay, which luckily worked for them. As they went through the city UFA they met Viktor, a Russian motorcyclist that waved to them. They stopped and chatted a bit, him in Russian and they in Icelandic. All of a sudden he tells them "Let's go!" and they ride together for a while. He was helping them navigate the city, great guy. After that he gave them his phone number (not sure how that's going to work) and they instead gave him the URL to the webpage - hopefully he'll get online somewhere and will be able to follow their journey. In the afternoon they noticed that 2 more hours had been added to the clock so they're at GMT+6 hours. Tonight they're staying at a Hotel they've dubbed the Mob Hotel. It's a nice 4 star hotel that's costing them 3'000 rubles for the room for the two of them. They made the decision to spend the night at a decent place before they'd start sleeping in the tent. Einar has been wondering about all the bites he's been getting and has come to the conclusion that it may not just be flies but more than likely he's also gotten bitten by fleas at one of the less than nice places they spend the night the other day.
Tomorrow they continue their journey East. |
